I have no love for Djokovic but it sounds to me as though Scott Morrison is using this to boost his popularity in the upcoming elections by coming over as 'the tough guy'.  If Tennis Australia and the State of Victoria were satisfied that Djokovic met the criteria required for having an exemption (and he is known to have allergies), then that's where the matter should have rested.

If he is in fact deported, then all the others who also got exemptions should be deported as well because if Morrison wants to enforce this on one player, then in all fairness he should do the same for the rest, although with so many double-jabbed players having tested positive for covid recently and thereby risking passing it on, I don't see why it should make any difference if a handful of players are unvaccinated, particularly as I'm sure that the usual protocols will be in place to keep the spread of the virus to the absolute minimum.

Looks like Djokovic might not be the only player who could be leaving the country soon -

"The Australian Open could be thrown into further disarray with the home affairs minister, Karen Andrews, revealing other international players and officials are being investigated after Novak Djokovic’s visa was cancelled ... Andrews confirmed the Australian Border Force, which she oversees, is looking at other individuals who have travelled to Australia in similar circumstances for the Open."

Tennys Sandgren hasn't won any grandslam titles but he reached the quarter finals in Australia in 2018 and 2020.  Sandgren hasn't been vaccinated and he isn't going to play in Australia this year.
Djokovic is desperate to get his 21st grandslam and overtake Rafa and Federer. In order to try to do that he'd have been better advised to have the vaccinations on offer and thus avoid the chaotic situation he now finds himself in.
If the authorities change their minds and allow Djokovic to play there's no guarantee that he'll win, but I think he'll be so fired up that he probably will win.
Djokovic is stupid and his behaviour detracts from this year's Australian Open, he's the Number 1 player in the world so he should be setting an example.

This from The Guardian confirms my own view that Novak is now being used by Scott Morrison (who I equally dislike) for political point scoring.  Djokovic though wasn't dumb but was under the impression that he'd been granted an exemption by Tennis Australia and the State of Victoria - and then this eejit decides to step in at the last minute instead of opening his mouth weeks ago when he knew Djoko had entered for the tournament.

How dumb is Novak Djokovic? Dumb enough to allow himself to be used as a pawn by Scott Morrison, hurled on to the table as a welcome election-year distraction. Morrison offered a revealing aside during a TV interview this week. Yes, the Aussie PM confirmed, chuckling quietly, his border force does operate on intelligence, hunches and previous public statements. And so, this is, by extension, a showy piece of opportunism, a staged humiliation. Morrison has been under pressure over fragile administration, an absence of testing kits, a wildfire of new Covid cases. How to appear both strong and big on detail at a single stroke? Enter, Djokovic.

It's for this reason that I hope that Djokovic wins his legal battle against deportation.
