Hi, I was just wondering if anyone could give me so advice.
I know tickets are notoriously difficult to get hold of but I really want to go to Wimbledon this year and I was wondering how easy it is to get ground passes? I can go midweek (on the first week) but I'll only be able to get their by about 12ish. Will I have to cue for hours to get returns or is it easier to get tickets to the outside courts?
Many thanks.

Its very easy to get a ground pass. I think they hand out about 3000 a day. Last time I went I arrived at about 12ish and we queued for about an hour but the queue seemed to move quite quickly so I think you'll be ok.

Stories about the queues being 3+ hours is ********. The weather forecast and whether any Brits are playing will obviously have an effect on the queue so if you want tennis in under 45 minutes just don't go on a day that Andy's playing because he'll be on centre court anyway.

If I just want a ground pass why does it matter if Andy's playing (apart from the fact I'll miss his match, obviously)? An hour sounds ok, thanks for the advice

Usually more people will queue on a day that Andy plays because they want to watch the match on the big screen on Henman Hill (aka Rafa Ridge ) Tickets for Centre Court and Court 1 that have been returned/unsold for that day go on sale at 3pm in a booth on the top of Henman Hill so there's always hope. Costs £5 and goes to charity.

If there is an Andy match, a lot of townies will want to watch......so larger queues.

I walked right in on the first Tuesday at 11am, but it was meant to be rain! Best Wimbledon ever with 3 days on show courts!

Cheers guys, sounds good.
Another question, anyone know if it's possible to get returns for Queen's at about 12? I'm watching on TV and it's nowhere near full. Just wondering if it's worth the effort, thanks.

From my experience in 2006, we arrived at about 11am and one of the stewards at the back of the queue said "if you join the queue now you are unlikely to get in before 5pm." We asked if we would get in at all and he said we would so we joined to see what would happen. The queue started moving and we had a seat at court 18 no later than 12.15pm. And it was a day Murray was playing on centre court, and Agassi was also playing in his last Wimbledon that day. So if you get there in the morning you should hopefully get in in about an hour.

Don't know about Wimbledon, but any court (even very unpopular ones) is impossible to get on within 3 hours.

Getting on to some courts can take a little while. Everyone wants to see the same people on the outside courts. So if a popular match is coming on (i.e. Safin for example) then you want to be sitting on that court the match before in order to have a seat for the safin match. That sort of idea anyway.
It's all quite intimate at Wimbly with courts being right next door to each other.

Hello again.
Does anyone know what the situation is normally like on the first week to get ground passes after 5pm? Cheers

This is my Dads reasoning on why we aren't going anymore, 'we could end up going all the way down there and not getting tickets'... Or at least I thought that was his reasoning, turns out he's made it through to the next round of a golf tournament which is on the Wednesday we where planning on going to Wimbledon.
