Off-season Tennis Quiz

Quote

Oh sorry - I forgot to say - but in the unlikely event of us (me) actually thinking we know the answer to any particular question, are we supposed to write the answer here on this thread or are we supposed to write you a pm ATL?
Or do we have to stay quiet for all time - that is until the 14th January ? Smile

Think we're going to have to find one of the eggheads to join the forum in order to answer this quiz Very Happy

Maybe an Andy Murray and entourage quiz might play better into the skillsets of people on here Smile

^  I think you're right but do the eggheads know about the quiz ? Smile
I thought I knew a few things about tennis, but I realise I don't know anything - I wish I could answer a few questions though, because I'm sure I'd feel better if I could do that Smile

You guys aren't going to make me have to post this on a crazy forum like MTF or TT just to get some players are you?!

Post your answers on the thread when you want to and before the deadline. Please don't PM your answers to me!

There will be an Andy section.

^ I don't know about the others, but I wouldn't want the quiz on MTF.  I don't know about TT - what's TT?  confused
Ok we won't send the answers to you by pm .. The Andy section of the quiz should be all right - hopefully Smile

Part III - Golden Moments:

Q. 19

I think Ivan Lendl kept the Golden Racquet - but I thought it was called The Diamond Racquet - so maybe I'm thinking about a different racquet?!

I'm sure you're right ATL, but I can't remember it being in Antwerp.

Tennis Today - I think anyway.  Put it on MTF and they'd be tearing each other apart.  It's a lions' den in there!

Part II - Davis Cup and Fed Cup

Q. 13  Andy Murray
That's the one I'm sure everyone will get right - or should do anyway otherwise they shouldn't be on here. lol

Meanwhile I'm pretty certain the answer to No.7 is Slovakia because I watched most of the ties Henman and Rusedski played, and this wasn't one of their better ones.

Haven't got round to Part 3 yet!

I've added this to the first post, but please post all your answers in one post in consecutive order, otherwise it will make things difficult when it comes to calculating your points on the 15th January. Thanks.

I'll try to do that, but as far as I can see, I can't answer any of the other questions - you see?  But yes I had realised that any answers are final - and binding ....
Yes Aileen, I have occasionally looked at MTF - which is a frightening thing to do.  They fight, scrap and argue nearly all the time.

My apologies Tamara - it was me who got it wrong, so you can put your post back!  Meanwhile I deleted my earlier post.

Nice to see someone else getting involved. It is up to you when you post answers, but I think most people will want to post as late as possible so they don't reveal their answers!

Part IV will be posted tomorrow.

Thanks ATL! Will hold off and try to come up with some non-literary answers too...

Here's my additional question to the literary ones:

What was the name of John Betjeman's victorious tennis opponent in his poem "A Subaltern's Love-song"?
