Tennis in the time of Covid-19

Quote

No new, live, tennis for the foreseeable future. But the internet still contains lots of highlights and full-length matches from over the years.

Thought I'd start this thread off with a few links to some Australian Open matches and hope others post some links too.

Stan Wawrinka vs Novak Djokovic Australian Open QF 2014

Kim Clijsters vs Li Na Australian Open Final 2011

Andy Murray vs Grigor Dimitrov Australian Open R4 2015

Many thanks for opening this thread ATL and for the videos.

Meanwhile Tennis News 24/7 is full of information about who's doing what to help in the crisis along with other tennis related matters,so if anyone doesn't know about this website here's the link - https://www.newsnow.co.uk/h/Sport/Tennis

You'll find a lot of other things, such as what the players are doing during their unexpected time off on both the ATP and WTA websites.

The only player we know of so far who's tested positive for the virus is Brazil's rising star 20 year old Thiago Seyboth Wild, so I'm sure we all wish him a good recovery.

Got 6 hours or more to spare? Here's Novak vs Rafa AO 2012

Petra Kvitova vs Naomi Osaka AO Final 2019 highlights

Serena Williams vs Angelique Kerber AO Final 2016 Full Match

Will post more from some February/March tournaments tomorrow.

^ I'm going to watch Novak/Rafa right now - but I'm not sure if I have 6 hours to spare, but I can always come back to it -- say after the first 2 sets.

& thanks Aileen for the link you posted - I'm going to be so tied up and busy Smile

... I'm going to watch the highlights from Naomi and Petra now ..

I didn't actually finish watching Novak and Rafa, I found I didn't have 6 hours to spare  shocking

The match between Naomi and Petra was very good and it was worth watching.
How things have changed since then

I won't say who won because someone else watching might not know the result, or they might have forgotten the result.

Tomorrow I'll watch another match - it is a good way of keeping up with tennis, it just isn't the same without it.

If anybody has difficulty in falling asleep, then they can watch the highlights of the second and third days of this match -

"LTA launches British Tour with Andy Murray and Johanna Konta expected to take part"

Professional tennis is set to return to Britain in early July after the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) announced four elite events that will be open to Britain’s best players.

The LTA has confirmed the British Tour events will be held between July 3-26, but it is still subject to confirmation of government requirements.

However before that -

"Andy Murray targets return on British soil at Jamie Murray’s event"

Andy is planning a return to tennis action on British soil this summer, earmarking an event organised by his brother Jamie for his comeback.  This is expected to take place at the end of June but further details will be released.

That’s great news.  I hope there is some way of televising the event.  It will make a change from  ye olde worlde football matches.

Apparently it will  be shown on Amazon Prime.

Also, for the moment anyway, the good news is that it looks as though this and the LTA events will go ahead -

That is good news.  We will be able to talk about tennis again!

Thankfully, particularly as all the discussion about covid is getting rather boring.  Can't wait to see Andy again either.
