At least Novak isn't smug or stuck up tonight.

He's gone up a lot in my estimation.  Could teach Fed a thing or two about how to lose graciously and without stealing his opponent's moment of glory.

Superb tennis from both of them, particularly Nadal! Massive achievement for Rafa.

Definitely one of the classic finals.

From BBC sport website -

Novak Djokovic: "It's a great honour to be here again after three years. I'd like to congratulate Rafa and his team for an amazing tournament. Right now he's the best player in the world and he absolutely deserves this title, well done again."

Rafael Nadal: "First thing, I congratulate Nole and all his team for a great tournament, you're a great player and you're going to win this trophy very soon, I'm sure of that. I want to congratulate you for a great attitude after losing a Grand Slam final, that's a great example for the kids. (Winning the US Open) is more than I dreamt, just to arrive to the final was amazing and to have the trophy in my hands in a few seconds is going to be unbelievable."

Times correspondent Neil Harman via twitter: "Rafael Nadal handed his cheque to Novak because he couldn't fit it in his pocket. Now they are fighting over it!! Sheer class."

You just have to love both of them. wub

Nadal was awsome. Best he's played on a harcourt. This will make murray feel a little better too, well it certainly makes me feel better, the feeling for last two years is that murray's game has surpassed novak's, so it would have been painful to watch djokovic then go and win his second slam. Plus he's the last guy to beat nadal in slam play so, he'l be a little buoyed for the rest of the year now.

Got up at 5 a.m. to see the recording of this wonderful wonderful match and now have to go to work red-eyed from all the tears shed!  Ooof what fabulous tennis and great sportsmanship - they're both BACK!!!

Good to know that regardless of who Djokovic beats he'll never be an elite player with his serve.

For those who think all things are rosy for Nadal, Wilander won 3 Slams in a year for the first time at the same age Nadal is, he didn't win another Slam after.

Kind of confirms what Murray has been saying that Federer and Nadal are probably going to go down as the best two players to play the game so far.

Wish I'd stuck more money on Nadal in 4.

Whenever the GOAT question arises, people always say you can't compare like for like, cos Sampras never played Laver, for example. Well, when Nadal and Federer are acclaimed as the two greatest ever, at least we'll have the satisfaction of knowing that Nadal consistently mullered Smugerer, and we'll know for sure who the best player was.

I notice you don't have Andy's stats/age along side these.....kinda makes him seem out of their league don't it?
