Western & Southern Open

But it's all about the endorsements at her level, and her combination of talent and really appealing looks is huge. And the fact that she decided to play for Japan rather than the US—which I'm sure she could have if she'd wanted to—makes her a massive star over there and I expect a lot of her endorsements are from Japanese companies. I'm sure the same has been true of Nishikori—I read an interview with him at one point in which he said he had to put on hats and dark glasses to walk around in Tokyo because otherwise he just got mobbed all the time.
I read that about Nishikori as well, and, yes, I can understand that about Osaka.

Djokovic and Raonic have just started playing.

If Novak wins he'd have won lots of masters titles ......
 how many ?
I don't know how up to date this information is, but Djoko has won 34 ATP Tour Masters 1000 titles and  is the only male player to have won all nine of the ATP Tour Masters 1000 tournaments.

I know he often plays the injury card, but it looks like Djokovic is having neck problems again.

I don't know what's going on here because Jamie's doubles has been suspended due to rain when they were 2-6, 5-6 down to Carrneo Busta/De Minaur, yet this match is being played. confused

Sorry - Djoko's match is being played on LA with the roof closed.  Why couldn't they do that with Jamie & Neal?

Unfortunately because the men's singles is in Louis Armstrong with the roof, they can't put them in there. So I guess they're having to wait till the courts are dry before they can play again. It's stopped raining here in Brooklyn so I would have thought that would be soon. I'd like to think that Jamie and Neil can find a way to break the opponents' serve and get to a tiebreak, but honestly they were up 4-0 in the second set and then fell apart with a lot of double faults—Jamie didn't seem able to find a first serve at all. Don't know what's going on with them!

Thanks Tamara.  According to the schedule I saw the doubles was on LA before the singles, but obviously not.  Also I did wonder what was up with Jamie and Neal.  Very disappointing.

2nd set Djoko 6-3.

Talking of Djokovic, this has been reported.  If true, it certainly wasn't the best time to make this announcement!

And Nadal Federer and Dan Evans aren't happy either saying this is the time for unity, not separation,

Looks like normal service has been resumed by Djokovic.

DJoko takes the 3rd 6-4, followed by the ridiculous love-throwing to an empty stadium.

PS - He's welcome to that hideous trophy anyway!

And Carreño Busta and De Minaur win the doubles. That didn't take long... Actually Neil had a fabulous down-the-liner to get them to 5-6 30-all, and then it was over.
