Western & Southern Open

And CarreƱo Busta and De Minaur win the doubles. That didn't take long... Actually Neil had a fabulous down-the-liner to get them to 5-6 30-all, and then it was over.
I didn't even get to see it because for some reason AP now keeps logging me out!   I did see the trophy ceremony though.

PS - He's welcome to that hideous trophy anyway!

Yes, I was thinking the same thing!

Thanks for the reply. When you say 'idealistic dialogue' can you give an example?

Just not enough detail in what I have found to constitute worked-out solutions to effect the change required in the States. I am sorry but so far everything I have found is emotive rather than well thought out. That is understandable. I think the various groups go back seven years now?  I was looking for proper proposals that could help instigate change.

As I said, with other words, do you have anything to change that impression?

Perhaps if black criminals stopped resisting arrest they wouldn't get shot by the police.  Equally if the blacks stopped retaliating by rioting and destroying the property of white people, while glorifying these criminals, then, and only then, might we start to get somewhere, although quite what that 'somewhere' might involve I wouldn't really know.  Disarming the police  might be a good start but will never happen so long as the Americans cling to their love of guns under an archaic 2nd Amendment which had outlived its usefulness by the end of the 19th century.   At least the US managed to abolish black/white segregation by 1968, so something to be grateful for, although unfortunately it took until 1975 to end the equally appalling segregation between the native American Indians and the descendants of the white settlers.

I was hoping you could quite an example of the 'idealistic dialogue'. Perhaps you still can though and we can discuss.

Meantime I'd suggest that there are few things more 'material' and grounded in grim reality than murders such as that of George Floyd and the reaction to them.

^^  I think there should be a BLM thread.

And ...?  Sorry, but I don't see your problem here.

I agree. This thread is about tennis.  End of.

^  There's nothing wrong in a serious discussion about BLM  and I know it was instigated by Osaka who is a tennis player, but even so it would be better to have a completely new thread so that those who want to discuss BLM  can do so, leaving others to talk about the tennis.

I think you would if someone said 'the whites' should stop committing child abuse.

Yes credit to Osaka for this.

Yes credit to her.

Do you want to start a BLM thread? I think MW fans would join in.

FWIW I would write on a thread such as that.

Well personally, no. However If someone else did then I'd be happy to read it and possibly contribute -  if I had something to offer on a point.

My interventions on this thread have just been to challenge what I see to be rather reactionary dismissals of BLM from some posters.

I don't know really but marathonarthur might be interested in a BLM thread, we'll have to see what he thinks.
I do realise why you contributed to this tennis thread though.
Once the USO starts, we'll know if Osaka has decided to play ....
