Murray roars into Dubai Quarterfinals

By for MurraysWorld.com on
Andy Murray eased into the quarterfinals of the Dubai Duty Free Championships by dismantling Guillermo Garcia-Lopez, 6-2 6-0.

The Spaniard peaked early by fashioning a break point in the first game of the match, but it was all downhill for him from there as Murray's game roared into life.

From 4-2 up in the first set, Murray did not concede another game as his superior ball-striking did for Garcia-Lopez.

With 59% of his own first serves landing in overall, Murray won 51% of the returns on his opponent's first delivery to clinically best the 97th-ranked Spaniard.

Murray will play Philipp Kohlschreiber of Germany in Thursday's quarterfinals, having seen potential semifinal opponent Roger Federer fall in a shock defeat to qualifier Evgeny Donskoy later on Wednesday.
It is so good to read positive match reports again. Thanks for that.
With Fed out now, Andy is the favourite. But at the AO we had a similar scenario with Djokovic out and unfortunately Andy could not go over this bridge. So one match after the other, not taking anything for granted.

Thanks for the report Joe.

I agree with counter-puncher though, one match at a time for me - and Kohlschreiber certainly won't be a pushover.

Thanks for the report I thought Andy was outstanding. I was particularly impressed by his willingness to get a get on the front foot and carry the game to his opponent. looking really good, looks like a top player, although his opponent made far too many errors, particlarly his serve. looking forward to todays game.
