Andy Murray was beaten in the third round of the Cincinnati-New York Masters on Tuesday evening by Milos Raonic, 6-2 6-2.
The Scot could not find any sort of rhythm against Raonic, well-known for the strength of his service game. Indeed, the Canadian won nearly 90% of points on his first serve.
This was a weather-affected contest and a defeat that Murray took great displeasure from. After the match, Murray made his feelings known:
Wins earlier in the week over Frances Tiafoe and Alexander Zverev, however, should be a source of encouragement for Murray and his fans as he looks towards the US Open, the draw for which is due on Thursday and which will be held at the same venue from 31st August.

I don't know how much of it was due to the conditions at the beginning or if I was just a little bit slow. I don't know.
But I was really not happy with that at all. I have much higher standards than that. Not good enough tonight.

Thanks for the report Joe. I hope Andy can also take some satisfaction from the fact that his ranking has gone up by 19 places to No.115 on the strength of his two wins here.

I'm confused by that statement too, particularly as the match report went up went up the following evening, which isn't unusual after late night matches in the US bearing in mind that they're 5 hours behind us.
